interview: 10 questions

1. Tell me something about your life and the educational background

I was born in Lima, Peru and I’m the second of three brothers. I studied in Buenos Aires.

2. When, how and why started you filming?

I started filming in Buenos Aires when I first came to the city in 2008. I met an elderly woman who played the drums to earn some money and I just had to show and film that.

3. What kind of subjects have your films?

My films are about ordinary people who live with this certain indifference.

4. How do you develop your films, do you follow certain principles, styles etc?

Firstly, there has to be something that really draws my attention. Then I think about a concept for some weeks or months.

5. Tell me something about the technical equipment you use.

It’s very basic. I use a camera in full HD and me.

6. What are the chances of the digital video technologies for creating art using “moving images” generally, and for you personally?

I think it’s actually an advantage. I think technology has nothing to do with an idea. These are two very different things.

7. How do you finance your films?

0.000

8. Do you work individually as a video artist/film maker or do you work in a team?
if you have experience in both, what is the difference, what do you prefer?

I work individually. I used to work in a team but you always depend on somebody else, so I prefer working on my own.

9. Who or what has a lasting influence on your film/video making?

I don’t think that I’m influenced by any other artists or movies but by people on the streets or in my home.

10. What are your future plans or dreams as a film/video maker?

I still haven’t thought about that.
