Interview: 10 questions

1. Tell me something about your life and the educational background
I was born in 1986 in Varna, Bulgaria. I studied Psychology and then graduated at the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria.

2. When, how and why started you filming?
First of all my education was focused on film art and I have the ambition to develop myself in the same professional area. My personal and professional background is always been connected with the art. As a child, thanks to my parents, who are artist, I’ve acquired an artistic taste, love and wish to devote myself to art and filmmaking.

3. What kind of subjects have your films?
I don’t think the ideas are born, they are all around us, we just have to capture and show it. I like the small thing in life, which are often overlooked in a busy life. The beauty of life is in small details, not in big events.

4. How do you develop your films, do you follow certain principles, styles etc?
For me each idea determine how to express it. Every film it is a slightly different experience. My principles are to use the intuition, to be consist, trust myself and be who I am.

5. Tell me something about the technical equipment you use.
Usually I use digital technology. I prefer DSLR camera. It’s small and compact with good quality. This equipment allow me to be more independent and freedom.

6. What are the chances of the digital video technologies for creating art using “moving images” generally, and for you personally?
At the moment to make films in digital is more cheaper than analogue. With digital cameras you have more freedom, independence and chance to do a lot of experiments. And now everyone have chance to make a films if he want to do that.

7. How do you finance your films?
I think that art can be something more than a handful of dollars. Usually I do film without finance or with low budget. So I have more control and responsibility over final version of the films.

8. Do you work individually as a video artist/film maker or do you work in a team?
if you have experience in both, what is the difference, what do you prefer?
I have a lot of personal projects and often I prefer to work alone. But sometimes I work with friends for our collective ideas.

9. Who or what has a lasting influence on your film/video making?
I find influence in everything around me: my family, my friends, my life, environment and nature.

10. What are your future plans or dreams as a film/video maker?

I have no future plans or aims. The life is a big illusion in which everything is possible. The path to true values must be walked. It is not an important aim, but the path itself.
