    Interview: 10 questions

    1. Tell me something about your life and the educational background
What makes my creation interesting is the relationship between myself and my feeling with people. The distinct time, space, surroundings and memory expressed in this creation may have come from the memory of my childhood life experience abroad, far distant from my birthplace, Taiwan. When I was a child my father was the Deputy chief in charge of the “Taiwan Technical Mission” Because of this, my family moved to Uruguay, South America to assist the country’s agricultural development. My father died on duty during the mission, and my mother suffered mental illness, thus we moved back to Taiwan

I suppose you could say that this is a special childhood memory. Perhaps this is why my creation focuses mostly on the conversation between myself and my surroundings or the reactions of thought. The reactions and movement of the body is often used to show personal intentions and the relationship between surroundings. This creation starts from the senses of the body, and uses different kinds of media, for example, photography, videotape to capture the object, to project the inner senses of the object, starting from a personal view to show a sense of a mutual and non mutual experience.

    2. When, how and why started you filming?
My creations started from the year 2000, using the feeling and senses of the body, awaiting the state where art can return back to the body. That is often a kind of special state, a cycle and an extension of life. Thus the use of the body as the theme, and pieces of an extended body as the media of the creative expression. The main content of the creation focuses on the body and the link between the senses of psychological, environment, time, sociological world, from the beginning where all is simply expresses with movement and performance then extending to the recent movements and performances that are hidden behind the image, to make the image the last media of expression.

Welcome for all the corporations to support my projects in the future.

    8. Do you work individually as a video artist/film maker or do you work in a team? if you have experience in both, what is the difference, what do you prefer?
Most of my creations are worked individually, but I will hire a photographer or ask my friend to help me when I use my own body to do the creation. In my earlier period of creation, I also create in a team, and now it will depend on what kind of creation I want to do.
To working individual, I can think clearly without disturbing, and work in a team can inspire many different ideas.
