Interview: 10 questions

1. Tell me something about your life and the educational background

I was born in Prijedor on June 22. 1986, for that time in SFR Jugoslavia. I’m just finishing studing on Academy of arts in Banja Luka, now Bosnia and Herzegovina, in class of prof. Nenad Zeljic, department of prints.

2. When, how and why started you filming?

I start into a Inter media program of Academy of art. We are living in digital ages and I like to be part of my time and actual way of thinking.

3. What kind of subjects have your films?

It’s in same time very complex and very simple relation between mysticism of traditional rituals and mysticism of a actual globalizations political systems. Relation between Supernatural in nazi-globalization and real in rituals…

4. How do you develop your films, do you follow certain principles, styles etc?

Some basic idea is there, but I like to make video sometimes spontaneously, in fact it’s very important moment when artist have to strictly do by concept and in which situation is better to start with improvisation process. That talking a lot about artist skills.

5. Tell me something about the technical equipment you use.

Hm, is so characteristic for us in Bosnia. I have new JVC HD camera but I haven’t so good computer to montage video on way I like, and when I get it, I will not have lightings or good sound or anything other. I want to say that I’m and living like that, my family house is always under construction, after war we fix all things about light and heating system but we still correctly have not water at home and others very important things. That mean, we are a masochist.

6. What are the chances of new media for the genre film/video in general
and you personally?

Chance is for (re)evolution, I just working on some project name “cyber gallery Art zeppelin”, in which my friend Dajan Spiric and me working on totally virtual gallery with new way of work representation system (similar to second life). We will use digital images, videos and internet like artworks source and with them we will be able to create exhibitions events in interactive 3D gallery space totally independent of any government or museum-gallery system in the world. That’s great!

7. How do you finance your films?
If you mean on video works, maybe sounds abstract….by nothing/no one

8. Do you work individually as a video artist/film maker or do you work in a team? if you have experience in both, what is the difference, what do you prefer?

It’s not thing of “preferring”, it’s thing of case, that mean if you are working on some huge, very complex project it’s normal that you will work in the team, but if I feel that is possible to finish some video work by myself it’s better for “autonomy” of art concept to finish by self.

9. Who or what has a lasting influence on your film/video making?

I don’t believe in influence, influence from same instinct and same fears, but respect Russian contemporary video works(Oleg Kulik, Leonid Tishkov, Tatyana Arzamasova, Lev Evzovitch, Evgeny Svyatsky, Olga Stolpovskaya).

10. What are your future plans or dreams as a film/video maker?

I start with new series name “dualisms”, I’m fascinated with that phenomenon and first I planning to extract five basic dualisms which “control” contemporary life on earth(virtual-real, original-copy….) One video, title “data flux” is just finished, you can watch it on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TXI6Jx7_54&eurl=http://www.mladenbundalo.com/htm/videoart.html
