Interview: 10 questions

1. Tell me something about your life and the educational background
My life is nomadic. Even in disciplines. I’ve been straddling between ceramics and video, through social actions to ritual axions and more. I am a gleaner, a learner, a sharer.

2. When, how and why started you filming?

In 2006, in Austria. I needed to express part of my Unter Rot project through moving images. They were video performances and even l didn’t hold the camera, l made the edition. I haven’t stopped since then.

3. What kind of subjects have your films?
Women issues, memory and identity, movement, art-socio-politic statements.

4. How do you develop your films, do you follow certain principles, styles etc?
Nop, usually l start with an idea and let it flow. The hard work is in editing.

5. Tell me something about the technical equipment you use.
I have been used to work with the minimal equipment and materials. So, the camera l use is an already old Canon and edit with an old Toshiba. But now l will get some better equipment soon, although l’ll get another Toshiba.

6. What are the chances of the digital video technologies for creating art using “moving images” generally, and for you personally?
They have been the only chances, as l have no professional academic education in film.

7. How do you finance your films?
They usually cost only my time, as l like to work with what is it around..

8. Do you work individually as a video artist/film maker or do you work in a team?
I am a nomadic loner here.

if you have experience in both, what is the difference, what do you prefer? (NA)

9. Who or what has a lasting influence on your film/video making?
Agnès Varda
