Interview: 10 questions
1. Tell me something about your life and the educational background
1.1 My life was and is not a straight-line one. My educational background was at first the successful issue.at the German Realschule like secondary modern school.
2. When, how and why started you filming?
2.1 I am starting with filming in the year 1998 because I was studied at the HBK, Saar and joined the lessons at Ulrike Rosenbach.
3. What kinds of topics have your films?
3.1 There are a lot of different topics in my films. The main themes are the fringe groups and there are social problems, too.
4. Concerning your included video: please tell me more about the aims and the contents.
4.1 The aims or better my ideas of the wanted aims don’t fulfilled often. The reason are mainly things who happen exactly then when I started with the new film. There are sometimes the locations or the actors who make a change in the script. The content in some of my videos are only talks. A crucial role plays my intention: If I let speak an old Jewish man or a refugee or the other side of my works: An idea I want to realize. I am collecting a lot of raw clips for my film: WONDERLAND! I write a script after deep thinking. And go out to gleaning my takes.
5. How do you develop your films, do you follow certain principles, styles etc?
5.1 I am mostly waiting one day before capture the raw files. Then I am regarding file for file and if needful I eliminate the files which are unfortunates recorded. I cannot explain the systematic I prefer because the work change with the aim and with content, too.
6. Tell me more about the technical equipment you use.
6.1 I am using since a lot of years a SONY Professional HXR NX5E and Final Cut Pro with a Mac and as well on Windows Pc with Vegas Pro 15 ( at the moment).
7. How do you finance your films?
7.1 My own budget because I don’t find a sponsor or supporter.
8. Do you work individually as a video artist/film maker or do you work in a team?
8.1 Very seldom I am working with another artist or filmmaker together – mostly as an individually film maker.
if you have experience in both, what is the difference, what do you prefer? 8.2 Yes, I have experience in both and it depends on a lot of things what I prefer. Some videos are so essential for me that I don’t need other artists and I like to work for myself.
9. Who or what has a lasting influence on your film/video making?
9.1 The lasting influence was the lessons in the Hbk, Saar by Ulrike Rosenbach and her compliments for my first little productions – on VHS and then on mini-video-tapes. 9.2 And so I am working for my diploma with video and the experts of this diploma were professors without experience in this medium.
10. What are your future plans or dreams as a film/video maker?
10.1 My dreams are in this case to have an great exposition in a well-known gallery or “kunsthaus†and there are some viewer who buy my works.
