Question:
Tell me something about your life and the educational background.
Answer:
My name is hugo olim, I’m 28 years old and I was born in Madeira island, Portugal. I studied audiovisual communication in Porto, Portugal.

When, how and why started you filming?
Answer:
I started in 1998 (more or less) in my school.

Question:
What kind of subjects have your films?
Answer:
My films are about experimentation and technological consequences.

Question:
How do you develop your films, do you follow certain principles, styles etc?
Answer:
I develop them listening to some music/sound bases and pursuing some ideas.

Question:
Tell me something about the technical equipment you use.
Answer:
I have a desktop and a laptop PC, a miniDV camcorder, and I use Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Resolume, and other softwares.

Question:
What are the chances of new media for the genre film/video in general and you personally?
Answer:
More creative freedom.

Question:
How do you finance your films?
Answer:
With my money, my films are low budget works.

Question:
Do you work individually as a video artist/film maker or do you work in a team? if you have experience in both, what is the difference, what do you prefer?
Answer:
Normally I work alone or with my partner João Ricardo (we make the Pygar duo) who gives me sound support.

Who or what has a lasting influence on your film/video making?
Answer:
Volker Schreiner, Matthias Muller, Christoph Girardet, Gustav Deutsch, Addictive TV, D-Fuse, Hexstatic, Ryoichi Kurokawa, Lia, Tina Frank and many others.

What are your future plans or dreams as a film/video maker?
