Interview: 10 questions
1. Tell me something about your life and the educational background
I begin my artistic life as a painter. My academic formation is on painting. Since ever, my artistic tendencies where to combine painting with other expressions, such as sculpture, performance and installation. After 1995 I’ve abandoned painting and begun my digital art adventure. I’ve turned “digital artistâ€. The preference medium was the web site and photography. I believe that Internet is the art medium of the future. As art, is a medium that is born recently.
2. When, how and why started you filming?
I don’t consider my self as a filmmaker. I use film such I use any other mean to express my self and my ideas about art. I began use film in installation projects (the first in 2005) and it begun independently only a few months ago (January 2010).
3. What kind of subjects have your films?
I don’t have a main subject for my films. They just appended. The ideas born in my spirit and I produce them. I don’t have any style or theme consideration.
4. How do you develop your films, do you follow certain principles, styles etc?
The principle is the idea. This is the main point to develop any art project. And the evolution of this project depends on the idea.
I’m very interested in develop short films with one or two minutes. Simple and direct statements. Maybe this tendency results on my academic formation on fixed images.
Form me, the film must be the shorter possible.
5. Tell me something about the technical equipment you use.
I use a sony digital camera.
6. What are the chances of new media for the genre film/video in general
and you personally?
New media and Internet are the future of art production.
7. How do you finance your films?
I’m an art teacher and I finance all my art projects.
8. Do you work individually as a video artist/film maker or do you work in a team? if you have experience in both, what is the difference, what do you prefer?
I work always individually. I’ve worked on the past with other artists, the experience was good, but I prefer to produce my won projects. But I’m always open minded to work with other artists, always that is a good idea behind the project.
9. Who or what has a lasting influence on your film/video making?
Definitively Andy Warhol. More recently Douglas Gordon, Bruce Nauman and Bill Viola.
10. What are your future plans or dreams as a film/video maker?
Such as any other artistic language film / video will be more and more integrated with other artistic languages. And so I plain to produce more films on environment contexts that could be presented as an art piece by it self.
